Alecia demonstrated integrity, strong leadership, commitment while earning the respect and the distinction of being a “Trail-Blazer” for doing what’s right for students, parents, teachers, classified staff, and the community.

Alecia courageously opened the investigation with the Grand Jury Office that reported and revealed unethical management practices by top level administrators and the suspicious billing practices of the districts contract law firm. These events ultimately became the driving force and the innovation to create the Urban Advocates and Achievers that was inspired on January 31, 2012.

According to Ms. Eugene-Chasten, "As parents and community members we have the power and the right to affect positive educational outcomes in our schools to prepare our children to complete, lead, and participate in the world economy”.

“We must advocate for our children, understand our rights' and we are entitled to an equitable educational opportunities and access to the arts. The importance of a comprehensive arts program in education is designed to fulfill the K-12 Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) curriculum standard for California Public Schools.  VAPA states that, "Achievement in the arts cultivates essential skills, such as problem solving, creative thinking, effective planning, time management, team work, effective communication and an understanding of  technology."
